The
bullfrog has big bulging eyes. It is plain green or brown. It
call sounds like jug-o-rum. The bullfrog lives in freshwater
ponds, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, stock ponds, ditches
and canals. It may be found in deep or shallow water. It eats
insects, crunchy snails and other frogs. We first see the bullfrog
in May. There are 20,000 eggs. The egg groups are huge mats of
small bubbles attached by strings to underwater plants. The primary
predators of bullfrogs are fish, birds, mammals, snakes, crustaceans
and insects. The bullfrog is the biggest frog in Ohio.
