Predators of the deer mouse are coyotes, foxes, bobcats, weasels, skunks, badgers, grasshopper mice, snakes, owls, and other birds of prey. Mom feeds them milk for about four weeks. They are nocturnal. The deer mouse does not hibernate and it makes a nest in the winter. The deer mouse is not endangered in Ohio. Its scientific name means "mouse with boots" because of its white feet. |
