Cool Woolly Bear Facts!

I used some information that we found on the internet. I took notes on note cards. I found out some new cool things!

Woolly bears live in the United States, Mexico, and southern Canada.

There are two generations of woolly bears each year. That means that two times each year woolly bears are born. The ones I found in the fall are the kind that live through the winter.

A woolly bear protects itself by curling into a ball and showing its fur.

It molts, or sheds its skin, about six times before it becomes an adult. Each time it sheds, it turns more reddish and the black stripes get smaller.

This is the habitat I made for my woolly bear. Can you find my woolly bear?

An adult Isabella Tiger moth has white wings with black spots.

The Isabella Tiger moth lays eggs in small groups on plants such as maple trees and sunflowers.

It takes four or five days for the eggs to hatch.

The caterpillars eat the leaves that they hatch on.
