Woolly bears live
in the United States, Mexico, and southern Canada.
There are two generations of
woolly bears each year. That means that two times each year woolly
bears are born. The ones I found in the fall are the kind that
live through the winter.
A woolly bear protects itself
by curling into a ball and showing its fur.
It molts, or sheds its skin,
about six times before it becomes an adult. Each time it sheds,
it turns more reddish and the black stripes get smaller.
