The Turtle Project

Mrs. Sosic found a turtle by th e pool at her parents' house. We know a lot about turtles because we have turtles at home. We decided to find out what it was.

We listed the things we knew about the turtle:

It has a sharp, pointy shell.
It has a long tail.
Its head and neck are shaped like an oval.
It has webbed feet.
Its black eyes kind of pop out.
It has a long neck.
Its grayish black.

We created a habitat for our turtle so we could study it while we researched.

"We decided that our turtle is a snapping turtle because snapping turtles spend most of their time in the water and this turtle has webbed feet, which tells us that it likes water. Snapping turtles have eyes that are on the top of their head. The shell is dark brown. We think our snapping turtle is a baby because it's teeny tiny. We feel that the best place for our turtle would be in a water type area."
