In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

A White House visitor asked Dwight Eisenhower's young grandson what his name was. "Dwight David Eisenhower", the boy replied. The President was seated nearby. "If you are Dwight David Eisenhower, said the visitor, gesturing toward the President, "then who is he?" David answered without hesitation, "That's Ike!"
Dwight Eisenhower was the Commander of the Allied Forces in World War II (imagine that the person being blown up is HITLER).  He served with distinction as our thirty-fourth President, and was not truly appreciated as a tactical politician until after his death.  He was our oldest President until the election of Ronald Reagan.
