Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

-- John F. Kennedy, 1961

It shall be the policy of this Nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from Cuba against any nation in the Western Hemisphere as an attack by the Soviet Union on the United States, requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union.

-- John F. Kennedy, 1962

It is really hard to believe that he would have been 86 years old on May 29, 2003!  For the vast majority of Americans who were "alive and aware" in the early 1960's, he will be forever young. If you are old enough, do you remember where you were on November 22, 1963?  Although we have learned much more about his personal life since the assassination (much of it not very flattering), based on a poll taken in 1993 he still ranked as our most popular President ( and that all despite Ted Kennedy!!!). One of my favorite anecdotes was during the Presidential Campaign of 1960 concerning Republican candidate Richar Nixon: "Do you realize what responsiblity I carry? Kennedy asked his supporters during the (1960) campaign. "I'm the only person between Nixon and the White House."
