Weekend Weather Forecasts

At the beginning of our weather unit, the students in Mrs. Pawlaczyk's class
were given the task to create their own weekend forecast. We brainstormed as a class what information would be needed and how to obtain it. They worked in small groups to research using laptops, books and class lessons. They then created slides using the Smartboard software to use in their presentation. The students also filmed the forecasts using the Flip cameras. It was wonderful to see how engaged the kids were during the entire project. The videos are a bit dark due to the Smartboard in the background. Enjoy!

GO-hio Projects

Math, reading and social studies collide in this unique fourth grade project. Groups of 2 or 3 students were given a budget of $2000 and asked to plan a 4 day/night trip for a family of 4 to a destination within Ohio. They researched using laptops, created brochures or posters and produced commercials using a Flip video camera. Some of the students will even be taking their trip this summer!

Mrs. Blake's Weather Tool Videos 2010

Mrs. Blake's class researched different weather tools to discover what they measure and where they should be located to gather accurate information. They used the internet, their science book and various books from the library to gather their information. Once they had learned all about their tool, they presented it to the class. The students also learned how to use a Flip video camera to record the presentations. Enjoy!

Tool Time Twist Pawlaczyk's Class

After the class researched and filmed their first weather tool video, they were given a TWIST! They had to teach their tool to another group. This new group had to present their tool on camera. We will show this video comparison to another class and see if they can guess who was the original group! This allowed the students to become experts on 2 tools, not just one.
