Land Iguanas are really cool animals. There are three species of Land Iguanas: Conolophus, Subcristatus, and Conolophus Pallidus. Land Iguanas are yellow and orange underneath and red and brown on top. They are mostly found in deserts or the Galopagos Islands, under cactuses. Their habitat is really dry. The Land Iguana is a vegetarian! Its favorite food is cactus’ fruit pads. It also likes other plants. Land Iguanas wait until the food falls down from the cactus. When the fruit pads drop down from the cactus, the Land Iguana catches it in its mouth. When the Land Iguana puts the pad in its mouth, there are thorns on it so it gets stuck into their teeth. Then they have to take their tongue and drag it across their teeth to get the thorn unstuck. It’s rarely seen.

Land Iguanas predators are: hawks, egrets, herons and snakes. Land Iguanas bite and thrash their tails to protect themselves. They are plump and very slow.

Land Iguanas lay their eggs in big bunches inside nests. Female Land Iguanas protect their eggs by just standing in front of them so no animal will take them.

Land Iguanas are extinct only on Santiago, otherwise they’re not extinct much. Land Iguanas were living about 8 million years ago.
